Much to Leng’s joy the fridge finally made it out of the living room and permanently into the van this morning. To my relief it started as soon as it was powered up and was soon down to temperature. The compressor seems to be very quiet, and reminiscent of flowing water hopefully its not going to sound like a raging waterfall when we get to sleep in the van with it.

With the fridge in, it was on with the second fascia, I roughed out the plywood sheet before I ceased work back in October so it was just a case trimming the top edge to match the undulations in the ceiling and the edges to fit between the partitions. By packing up time the panel was trimmed and all the battening fitted.

Leng suggested that I power off the fridge, but I think I will run it for a few days just to see how the power consumption goes and whether the solar panel is up to keeping the battery topped up. I was quite surprised on Thursday night when was putting the van back after fitting the cabinet fascia, even though the sun had set and it was starting to get quite dark the Solar Regulator was showing that it was charging, exactly how much charge it was putting I have no idea. This morning the charging light was off and there were three reds on the charge status indicator, as soon as the fridge went on it went to two reds and the charge light went on.

Tomorrow is a GOKF fly-in day up at Ferry Meadows and the Peterborough weather forecast for tomorrow has left me in two minds, the wind looks to be great for kite flying but the temperature is set to be in single figures. Bon-bon wants to go but I’m not sure I want to travel that far and freeze myself to the core.

I’m not sure whether to put the those clocks which aren’t radio controlled forward before I go to bed or wait till the morning. Anyway I’ve just been running through past blog entries and note that whilst we have owned the van for over a year now next Saturday will be the first anniversary of when I first started on the conversion process.
