Well I today placed what will probably be our biggest order after the purchase of the van, in fact the supplier actually told me to sit down and brace myself before giving me the final price. However since they had quoted me in the week, and were over £400 less than the nearest quote it wasn’t that big a surprise.

Having tweaked the interior over the weekend and double checked all the internal dimensions particularly the location of the internal ribs, I have reduced the width of the kitchen window by 200mm which took an additional £20 off the price of the windows, but the bill for all five plus the rooflight came in at well over a £1000. So by the weekend we should have:

  • 2off 900mm x 550mm windows (side door and living area)
  • 1off 500mm x 300mm window (kitchen area)
  • 1off 550mm x 550mm window (sleeping area)
  • 1off 350mm x 500mm window (shower/toilet)
  • 1off 400mm x 400mm rooflight.

With luck the prop-shaft will sorted next Monday and I will be happier taking a drill and jigsaw to the roof and body panels. Current plans are to make a start on cutting the holes over the Easter weekend weather permitting.

In addition to the windows I have also ordered the adhesive for fitting the backing frames, and the bedding compound for sealing the windows to the van.
