With 2008 under way, the latest article in my kiting related ‘Know Your…’ series just about complete; the final two posts have been drafted and will be posted over the next couple of days, my thoughts have been turning towards the coming year. So what next? Well in addition to my regular random posts, future articles planned for the coming year include: ‘Know Your Sewing Machine’, ‘Know Your Fabric’ and ‘Know Your Seams’ , others which have potential include ‘Know Your Lines’, ‘Know Your Spars’ and ‘Know Your Safety’. I have also been working on .PDF leaflet versions of the articles, which should be available for download shortly, once I have sorted out some online storage space.

In addition to the above, I have two kite builds planned for the winter months, for which I intend to post plans and instructions: a double parasled and an inflatable plane a la Dave Holt but to my own design based on the Gee Bee Zee. Since I have all the materials for both, I guess it will be a case of how the mood takes me as to which I shall do first. I also have a quantity of raw, un-dyed and uncoated ripstop and I intend to try my hand a fabric painting, either for another Rokkaku Dako or and Edo Dako. You will have probably noticed the ‘Yin-yang Koi Rok’ slide show in the sidebar, I also plan to write up the build, either as a generic Rokkaku Dako plan and instructions and, or an appliqué technique article. So there will hopefully be plenty to make it worth coming back for.

I know I am starting to sound like a broken record, but in the past three days, I have had two supplier questionnaires and a warranty statement request all quoting incorrect legislation. In fact the warranty statement request stated that in order to continue to act a supplier to this customer, we must provide written assurance of compliance with the cited legislation, however the citation was so old and out of date that if we were to comply with it we would be breaking the law as currently constituted. All three of these requests were from UK food producers, which to my mind raises serious questions. Just three more reasons to cut down on processed and pre-prepared food?
