Year 2 Day 24: More of the same

Yep, it was back in the van varnishing again to night getting the third coat on the cupboard and the front wall, hopefully I will get the last two coats on these areas tomorrow. The in was onto the front section of the ceiling, having filled the pin tack holes and fitted the trim strip that covers the join, it was just a case of sanding down and rolling on the varnish.

With the light failing, I moved into the house and set about varnishing the cutlery stand/box that we bought in Ikea last weekend . Personally I would have left it untreated but Leng wants it varnished, so after a quick sand down to get rid of the worst of the roughness, I applied the first coat.

As I mentioned about a year ago this varnish is white before it is applied and has dried, but when it does dry it has almost no colour unlike many other varnishes and lacquers. What I didn’t mention last is that I’m actually using Ronseal Diamondhard Floor Varnish in a clear satin finish, £40 for a 2.5l tin it isn’t cheap, but having used Ronseal floor varnishes in the house (though not this particular one) they are hard wearing, so I am hoping the expenditure is worth it. Also for the most part I am using a gloss roller to apply it so I am getting a better coverage and a more even finish than with brushing.
